Testing Laboratory
A testing laboratory
is where scientific tests and experiments
will be sent to find out results of the test.
They generally hold from one to thirty scientists,
and you are unlikely to find more than this
working in one laboratory due to safety concerns.
The laboratory will
house lab equipment and glassware. Toxic materials
will be handled in a fume hood which reduces,
and generally eliminates completely, the risks
of inhaling poisonous gases.
All labs will also contain fire extinguishers
and blankets as well as other safety devices
that are deemed suitable for the type of lab
that is in question.
Medical tests performed
at hospitals will generally be sent to the
testing lab for results. Doctors or nurses
will only perform the most basic of tests,
and anything more complicated will be sent
to a lab.
Materials sent to and
from labs are sent in special containers to
avoid damage or contamination and results
will always be kept confidential.
