Sleep Disorders
Given that most people
spend almost a third of their lives sleeping,
a sleep disorder has the potential to seriously
affect our well being. Sleep is one of the
most vital bodily processes and anything that
interferes with it is likely to have a detrimental
effect very quickly.
Sleep apnoea is a breathing
disorder that causes the sufferer to stop
breathing in the middle of the night. These
stoppages can last for up to almost two minutes
and can occur hundreds of times in one night.
Another common sleeping disorder is snoring.
This can be very embarrassing for the sufferer
as it will keep his family and those around
him awake also.
Narcolepsy is a sleep
disorder that causes the sufferer to fall
asleep at random times throughout the day.
All sleeping disorders
can have a severely detrimental effect on
the quality of life of the sufferer and can
severely damage their professional and social
lives.
