Liposuction
Liposuction is a medical
operation that involves the removal of fat
from the body. The fat is first liquefied
and then sucked out through a hollow needle.
Certain parts of the body are targeted and
the fat will be removed only from the desired
areas.
Liposuction is not
to be regarded as an easy form of weight loss,
or as an alternative to exercise and a healthy
diet. It is quite a severe operation that
can be expensive and time consuming. It is
also painful and patients should be aware
of this before opting for the procedure. As
with all surgery, liposuction carries with
it inherent risks to the patient.
The main benefit and
use of liposuction is not simply as a weight
loss method, but as a means of targeting specific
difficult areas. Typically, only 10 pounds
will be removed from the patient in a single
sitting. This is due to the risks involved
in excessive blood loss.
